Natural Bridge Caverns is opening more underground terrain to tourists starting in May.
Besides a 1,100-foot section of underground passageway that has never been open to the public, visitors on the new Hidden Wonders tour will get to see a 5,700-square-foot domed chamber called the Ballroom that will double as an event space, and a spot called the Box Canyon, where a sound and light show will be staged. They’ll exit via a 700-foot conveyer system called the BAT, which stands for belt assisted transport.
The new attractions are part of a multi-million-dollar underground expansion that began in 2017.

The guided Hidden Wonders tour covers a half mile, includes stairs, and takes about an hour. Opening date is May 12.
Local cavers discovered the cavern in 1960. The commercial cave, located southwest of New Braunfels, offers a variety of tours through two distinct caves, the Discovery Cavern and the Hidden Cavern. The Hidden Wonders tour delves into parts of Hidden Cavern once only accessible to local cavers.
“We plan to showcase the science behind the beauty of this once hidden cavern on our tour,” the park’s president, Brad Wuest, said in a press release. “With Hidden Wonders’ many enhancements we have an opportunity to both educate and entertain.”
Tickets for the Hidden Wonders tour start at $28.50 for adults, if purchased in advance.
Above ground, visitors can tackle a ropes course, explore a 5,000-square foot outdoor maze, or ride a zip rail at the park.
