Meow Wolf is coming to Texas.
The Santa Fe-based company, known for its interactive and immersive art exhibits, will add two new Texas “portals” to its existing sites in Santa Fe, Denver, and Las Vegas. But despite a buzz that surfaced after a pop-up Meow Wolf Installation opened in Austin during South by Southwest, the exhibits are bypassing the Capitol City.
“The Meow Wolf story universe is expanding, and Texas holds the keys to our next chapters,” said Jose Tolosa, CEO of Meow Wolf.
The first Texas location is scheduled to open at Grapevine Mills in Grapevine in 2023. Another will open in the Fifth Ward of Houston in 2024, according to a press release.
Company officials say they’ve been eying Texas for an expansion for years. They like its diversity and love of arts.

Visitors walk through the exhibits, which are aimed at transporting them to fantastic realms of story and exploration.
The company will work with hundreds of artists, both local to Texas and from their headquarters in Santa Fe, to create the Texas locations.
It will begin recruiting artists and staff this summer. For more information, sign up at texasportals.com.
