If music’s always on your mind, even when you travel, check out the Elizabeth Hotel in Fort Collins, Colorado.
I stayed four nights at the hotel in the heart of the city’s Old Town and felt like a little piece of Austin had sprouted amid all the breweries and bike lanes.
Every room comes with a record player, for example, and you can pick out a stack of vinyl to play in your own room. You can even check out an instrument – a fine guitar, for example – from the lending library located in the lobby.
The most music obsessed will want to book the Music Suite, which comes with its own baby grand piano and a high-tech sound system. (Personally, I’d rather bed down in the Beer & Bike Suite, complete with a fridge stocked with craft brew, a beer tap, a bottlecap backsplash, and a beer pong table.)
The 164-room hotel opened in late 2017 and boasts a killer location just a block or two from the pedestrian plazas, restaurants, and shops. (Don’t miss my favorite, the Little Bird Bakeshop, for quiche and breakfast pastries, Walrus Ice Cream for frozen treats, and The Regional for possibly the best raw oysters of my life.)
Any music fan wants to wrap up the day with some live tunes, and the Elizabeth’s got that covered, too. Just stop by the Magic Rat, situated in the alley adjacent to the hotel.
The Elizabeth Hotel is located at 111 Chestnut Street in Fort Collins. Rates start at $189 per night. For more information go to theelizabethcolorado.com.
