If you’re ready for a summer staycation, here’s a new hotel to add to your must-visit list.
Thompson Austin — a 212-guestroom hotel that will feature a 10,000-square-foot wellness center, a sparkling open-air pool and deck and a restaurant helmed by James Beard Award-Winning Chef Mashama Bailey — this week announced its summer opening. The hotel, which is the Thompson’s third Texas property, will be located downtown at Fifth Street and San Jacinto in the music and entertainment district.
The design by Simeone Deary Design Group will feature statement concrete walls and bespoke elements including a front desk inspired by raw cut gemstones and a specialty shou sugi ban wood ceiling finish, both nods to the local landscape. Bold finishes of mixed metals, hints of soft leathers and luscious greenery will create the warmth in the space.
